Morning, Noon, and Night With The Multifaceted Jordin Cooper of The LB

June 27, 2019

Jordin Cooper is an anomaly. A unicorn disguised in dark eye makeup, donning leggings in the mornings, pencil skirts during the day, and running shorts at night. Let me explain.

Jordin was THE OG Cyclestar at Cyclebar (seriously….. she’s the original) and now teaches boot camp and cardio kickboxing at The LB. I have been going to her classes for 2 years and every class I take is so vastly different. She incorporates weights, bands, sliders, Bosu balls, and the like, and is extremely creative in how she applies them. Her classes are nonstop and very challenging, so come ready to work.

She grew up in Northern Kentucky and attended the University of Kentucky for undergrad, which is where she started teaching group fitness at their rec. Then, moving on to grad school at the University of Cincinnati, she started a free boot camp that was wildly successful (the OG pop up?!)

After grad school, she was introduced to the original Cyclebar manager, Vince, and went on to become their very first employee. During her tenure as the Director or Marketing, they grew from the Hyde Park location in Rookwood Commons, to 300 studios before selling to a private equity firm.  Jordin’s role has shifted a bit since that day, and she now is the VP of Brand Strategy at STG Brands, helping lifestyle brands such as Pure Barre, Shred 415, The Stretch Lab, Club Pilates, and more grow in size and scope.

Aside from her classes at The LB and her corporate job, which operates next door out of Fueled Collective, she laces up and hits the pavement in her spare time. Jordin ran her first of ELEVEN full marathons, the Flying Pig Marathon, back in 2010. And she ran it in a casual 3:10. From there, she went on to run the Disney Marathon and made it to Boston, twice. The first time was that dreaded day where it was over 90 degrees -- the heat got the best of her and she ended up nearly going into kidney failure. The following year, she went back to complete it and ran it in 2:59, just fast enough to not be involved in the bombing. She made it very clear in our conversation that she has no desire to go back and run it again after those two experiences. Understood.

Aside from her superwoman acts, Jordin is cool, funny, and just a really “chill” person. Her relaxed demeanor is admirable considering how much she has going on. She really makes balancing it all look incredibly easy. And her upcoming nuptials to Dr. Erik Nabi of Form + Function Movement Lab are just setting her unicorn wings on fire. Plus, I've noticed the impact that Erik has had on her classes (she's been throwing in some really dynamic warmup and cool downs). These two are without a double a couple to watch.

If you are interested in trying out her classes at The LB in Rookwood Exchange, your first week is FREE with this code! My favorite is her Friday 5:45am cardio kickboxing class.
