Sweat and Sip: All the best brewery workouts this summer

What’s better than a frosty craft brew or a local glass of wine? Sipping it after you just worked your butt off. I mean, imagine your picture perfect summertime weekend. What do you see? If you’re anything like me, a combo of good people, a swift workout, and a buzzy beverage hits the sweet spot.

 

Turns out, there’s more to yoga-brewery partnerships than just a good time, these classes bring new crowds into breweries, during times that might have otherwise been slow, and it serves as a great way to ease new yogis into the practice. It’s no surprise that people feel a little more at ease surrounded by vats of alcohol than a boutique fitness studio space.

 

 

Luckily, many breweries and wineries in the Queen City have hopped on the group fitness train this season, giving us plenty of opportunities to follow up a sweat sesh with a cold one. We’ve rounded up the best recurring brewery workouts so you can sip and stretch with us.

 

Modo Yoga at Rhinegeist Brewery: Head to Rhinegeist for a free flow Sunday mornings at 10:30. The Modo Yoga instructor lead classes are free, but donations are accepted. Just bring your mat!

 

Pure Barre (Oakley) at Skeleton Root Wine Bar: Every second Sunday of the month, Pure Barre pops up at Skeleton Root Wine bar in OTR for a free sweat sesh. The winery opens up right after class, so you can wind down with a glass of wine. Don’t forget to save your space, these classes fill up quick!

 

 

 

Yoga at 50 West Brewery: Every Sunday at 11am rotating yoga teachers lead a donation-based beginners yoga flow at 50 West Brewing Production Works. Class is free for military veterans.

 

Sam Adams Cincinnati Taproom: Itching to get outside? Sam Adams Taproom just started Saturday morning Yoga on the Patio at 10am. Classes are free and first come, first serve. Just bring your mat and enjoy a $1 off ticket for a beer to sip when class is done.

 

Taft’s Brewing Company: Taft’s hosts group fitness events all the time. They don’t particularly follow a schedule, but keep your eyes on their Eventbrite page to see what’s to come. Next up: You can catch Pure Barre at the Brewporium at 6:30pm on May 21 for Pure Barre & Beers. In the past, they’ve hosted Cincinnati Fitness & Boxing for a Boxing & Conditioning class, as well as the League for Animal Welfare with Dog Yoga.

 

 

 

Rooted Yoga at Deeper Roots Coffee: Alcohol not your thing? Enjoy coffee and yoga instead! Head to the courtyard next to Deeper Roots at Findlay Market to join Rooted Yoga every Sunday at 10am for a free yoga flow and a chance to ship on a different kind of brewed beverage.

 

Don’t forget to join us at the Findlay Market Farmshed for Market Muscles every Wednesday at 5:30pm. We’ll be trying out different workouts every week and hanging at the Biergarten afterward! Classes are free for Insiders
