Where to find Matcha Tea in Cincinnati

August 31, 2018

Trends. We seem them all over Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and blogs. So, which trends work and which ones don’t? It is important to always do your own research on a product before trusting it. While Cincinnati is a well-known city, we are usually one of the last places to see a new trend. One of the most recent trends that I have been hearing about is Matcha Tea. So, if you haven’t heard of Matcha before or have been reluctant to try it, read below and see if this health trend sounds like one you want to give a try!

My sister Margo lives in Washington D.C. (one of the lucky cities that gets trends right away). She was the first person to introduce me to this weird looking tea. My first question was, “What the heck is Matcha??” Matcha is a green tea powder that is unique to Japan. There is the Starbucks brand matcha (full of sweeteners and additives) and then there is the traditional Japanese matcha that is used in the tea ceremonies. Powdery green tea might not sound appetizing, but I will tell you now, the taste is complex. Matcha tastes like a stronger version of green tea with an earthy but sweet twist to it.

What about Matcha makes it one of the most popular new health trends? The nutrition benefits are endless. Matcha is LOADED with antioxidants, boosts metabolism, burns calories naturally, detoxifies, calms the mind, reduces anxiety, contains fiber, chlorophyll, and vitamins. There was even a recent study that said Matcha contains more antioxidants than any other superfood PLUS it can help cure cancer by reducing tumor size. There is no question as to why Matcha is the newest trend heading our way. Matcha is easy to buy and make. Want to gain all of the benefits from drinking Matcha? Then check it out! In Cincinnati we hit up Essencha tea House, Cheapside Cafe or Rooted. Brown Bear Bakery has green tea matcha cake that's on our list to try.
