Yes, we may be broke college students…however, every once in a while we like to splurge and treat ourselves to our favorite ‘upscale’ restaurants. Whether it be for a family dinner, birthday celebration, or a night out, the two restaurants that we are delving into this week, aside from being our favorites, offer several healthy dining options. No, you do not need to leave your birthday dinner feeling sluggish and bloated. Yes, you can choose dishes that are both delicious and nutritious, and that leave you feeling nice and satisfied - and maybe leave you some extra room for that scoop of Graeter’s ice cream.
One of my favorite upscale restaurants is Bonefish Grill. Yes, I know it’s a nationwide restaurant, but it is still one of my absolute favorites as I believe it has a neighborhood appeal! It is one of my family’s go-to restaurants whenever we are looking for a nicer place to dine. The Bonefish we go to is located at 2737 Madison Road in Hyde Park. There is another location in West Chester located at 7710 Voice of America Ctr Drive. Although I typically opt for the Bang Bang Shrimp tacos, Bonefish has numerous healthier dining options, including the Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad. This salad is a combination of shrimp, roasted corn, black beans, feta, grape tomatoes, and red onion. It is tossed with cilantro lime vinaigrette which puts the finishing touch on this delicious salad. This salad has so much flavor, fiber, and protein, making it the perfect meal.
Another healthy dish is Cold Water Lobster Tails. The lobster tails are steamed and served with butter on the side. You can request asparagus and Jasmine rice as your two sides for this dish, giving you balanced, healthy, and fresh meal.
The final healthy dish that I’m highlighting is my mom’s absolute favorite - the Ahi Tuna Steak with a side of asparagus. Ahi tuna, in moderation, is good for you as it contains protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and minerals. This dish literally melts in your mouth, and it is done perfectly every time.
Although I’m only mentioning three dishes, Bonefish Grill several more healthy menu items. Bonefish Grill is committed to offering market-fresh specialties and nutritious dishes made from fresh and healthy ingredients. Next time you are in the mood for some amazing seafood and fresh veggies, try Bonefish!
One of my absolute favorite upscale restaurants is Seasons 52 located on 3819 Edwards Road. The mission of Seasons 52 is to provide a better way to eat by starting with full-flavored food that satisfies your cravings. This restaurant is unique because the menu changes every season so that their ingredients are fresh. In the Summer they focus on melons, corn, and tomatoes. In Spring, Seasons 52 features arugula, artichokes, and fresh strawberries. Autumn offers sweet potatoes, squash, and apple dishes. Lastly, the Winter menu offers lots of brussel sprouts, cranberries, and cabbage. When going to Seasons 52 in the Spring, my favorite item to get is the asparagus and crispy prosciutto salad. I LOVE arugula and I try arugula salads everywhere and this is hands down one of the best I have ever had.
Another item you have to try, or share as an appetizer, is the flatbreads. You can get one anywhere from a classic pepperoni to a summer vegetable flatbread filled with fresh, colorful veggies.
Have a sweet tooth like me? Well, you are in luck! They have a variety of small desserts that are all around 300 calories. They are the perfect way satisfy your sweet tooth without feeling guilty.
Seasons 52 also offers specific menus outlining vegetarian, vegan, gluten sensitive, and dairy sensitive options. They are open for brunch, lunch, and dinner.
