Yoga in the taproom is an emerging trend in Cincinnati that is taking off like wildfire. Cincinnatians can breathe, stretch, and flow at Rhinegeist with Modo, Madtree with Project Yoga, and Braxton with Rooted Yoga (to name a few). Fretboard Brewing, one of the new kids on the block, is following suit. Fretboard is partnering with Amanda Marko and Smash Experiences to bring yoga to the musically themed, Blue Ash brewery. Smash Experiences, started by Amanda last year, creates and hosts yoga events in unique places. Her goal is expose the masses to yoga and encourage people to live a “yoga-infused lifestyle.”
Our favorite part of the brewery yoga trend is the lean toward charitable donation classes. A portion of the proceeds from this series will support Melodic Connections. Melodic Connections is a community music studio serving all ages and abilities. This amazing nonprofit provides adapted music instruction and personal growth through community music making for more than 900 individuals in special education classrooms, adult programs, after school classes, summer camps and through off-site partners.
I caught up with Amanda last week who filled me in on the details of what they’re calling Rock ‘N’ Flow yoga. Classes start at 10:30AM on Sundays and cost $12 for a drop in. The style is a flow (meaning you’ll do some sun salutations and move your bod) to feel good music. The playlist theme for March is pop royalty. All levels are welcome. Themed rock ‘n’ roll t-shirts encouraged..
Fretboard Brewing is at 5800 Creek Road, Blue Ash. Follow Smash Yoga on Instagram and Facebook for announcements about future Rock 'N' Flow yoga classes.
